Nutritional Supplements

It has been my life’s work to understand how all the various nutritional supplements work to improve our health and wellness. It is also my mission to know what goes into their production. As important as supplements can be as part of a positive health outcome, the quality of these supplements is just as important to consider. Know what you’re using for supplements. If you are going to take nutritional supplements, make sure the manufacturers use the highest quality raw materials and that they’re tested by a non-biased entity. I’m going to give a quick summary of my top 6 supplements, breaking them down in 3 categories. Although there are many more supplements I can discuss, it would be done on an individual basis.

Core Supplements

Vitamin D3 with K2

Consider getting your vitamin D levels checked. It takes a simple blood test to find out. Most people are deficient. This is one of the most important single vitamins for the human body. Low vitamin D levels can affect hormone balance in men and women. It’s also critical for calcium absorption.*

Methylfolate B Complex

Current research indicates over 40% of humans have a limited ability converting folate into methylfolate. You can get a DNA test to see if you’re one of those people. When folate enters our bodies, it is normally converted to methylfolate by the body. However, if you have a lowered ability to do that, you have limited access to dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. This can typically show up as fatigue, weakness and attention issues.*

Performance

Creatine

Creatine increases our adenosine triphosphate or ATP.  ATP is critical for muscle strength and endurance and will help with recovery. It is also important for the brain. ATP is involved with the release of neurotransmitters. Neurotransmitters are critical for movement, mood and memory.*

Nitric Oxide

Nitric Oxide or NO plays a critical role with blood flow in the body.  It relaxes blood vessels and helps with oxygen delivery to our body’s cells.*

Longevity

Resveratrol

Resveratrol is an antioxidant. Antioxidants neutralize free radicals. Free radicals can damage our cells. Free radicals can be caused by toxins in our environment, such as polluted air or the chemicals that are in low quality food.*

Alpha Lipoic Acid

Alpha Lipoic Acid is also considered an antioxidant. However, it’s unique because it recycles other antioxidants as well. This keeps more antioxidants in your body helping with cell repair.*
